TIME FOR SLEEP
by Jim Elliff
It's time for sleep, my princess girl
So close your eyes like autumn leaves
That drift then light with ease.
You've had some thrills, some spills today
And now a graceful rest has come
With dreams of play at home.
But pray that God will come to you
And show you life means more than play
He is not far away.
And if he comes before you sleep
With faith hold out your empty arms
He rescues your from harms.
His love will be a better gift
Than mine or mother's, or your friend's
For He can save from sins.
But if He doesn't come tonight
Don't think He fails to know your need
Or that He doesn't heed.
It's time for sleep, my princess girl,
My Father knows your thoughts and loves,
Much more than daddy does.
