The Plague Song *

by Craig
Sing to the tune of "This Old Man"

First God sent,
Plague number one,
Turned the Nile into blood.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number two,
Jumping frogs all over you.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number three,
Swarms of gnats from head to knee.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number four,
Filthy flies need we say more?
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number five,
All the livestock up and died.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number six,
Boils and sores to make you sick
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low.
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number seven,
Hail and lighting down from heaven.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number eight,
Locust came and they sure ate.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number nine,
Total darkness all the time.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
They told Pharaoh "Let them Go!"

Then God sent,
Plague number ten,
Pharaoh's son died so he gave in.
All the people in Egypt were feeling pretty low
Finally Pharaoh let them go.

*Teaching notes When I taught this story to my primary Sunday School class, the children created an 11x14 poster for each plague. You'll want to use your own ideas, but here's what we did: Have the children draw a red river between two banks for plague one. Glue plastic frogs on a clip art Egyptian pharoah for plague two. Glue rice (for lice/gnats) on the clip art pharoah for plague three. Glue plastic/clip art flies on the clip art pharoah for plague four. Hot glue plastic farm animals lying down on a green background for plague five. Stick red dot stickers (available in multi-color packs for garage sale price stickers) on a clip art pharoah for plague six. Glue clear marbles for hail on the clip art pharoah for plague seven. Use plastic or clipart grasshoppers on the clip art pharoah for plague eight. Glue solid black construction paper over the cardboard for plague nine. For the last plague, I drew a doorway and let the kids dip a chicken bone in red paint to add the Passover blood on the lintle and door posts. Every week for the next month or so you can sing the song to review, holding up the appropriate poster as you sing the corresponding verse.

We've found these lyrics in several places on the Internet without copyright, just the note "by Craig".
