The Way to God
Resource Table
Ideas for Getting the Most Out of This Project
At first, you may be concerned because so many items are taken. This is OK. They will almost all be used. You might want to explain to everyone the purpose of the table and how it is to be used strategically. Encourage them to use the items freely and do not tell them to hold back. It will be worth it.
- You may wish to supply every family with a new item on a given Sunday. Encourage them to read through it and pray about who to give it to. Following this, you can put more of the same item on the resource table. Once they have read and used the item, they will know the best way to use more. This is a great way to introduce new items.
- Encourage those who have their own businesses to consider taking appropriate items to set out in their waiting rooms. You may wish to provide our plexi-glass holders for them. We have these available at our cost.
- Encourage people to look for places in the community where items from the table can be used for free distribution (for instance, the library "community" table). Help them begin a ministry project using the materials.
- In appropriate meetings of the church, have people share about their use of the materials provided. Always keep this means of evangelism before the people. Also, privately ask people how their literature use is going.
- Consider offering free items on your church's website or through your radio/TV programs. You may even wish to have an advertisement about your church, offering one free item to anyone who calls and asks for it.
- Encourage neighborhood distribution of materials from the resource table. A letter from a member to neighbors that includes his or her written testimony can be a wonderful tool.
- Motivate members to write out their own story of how they came to Christ. Then, ask them to add to that an appropriate piece of literature from the table to give to friends and relatives.
- Ask people to think of their extended family's need for the gospel. Let them use materials from the table to share with them at reunions or by mail.
Remember, once again, be generous in letting these items out. The expense will be worth it, as you will see. It speaks of your commitment to evangelism. Help your people become experts at using the best of gospel literature. Be well-stocked with the literature you like the most. Sow lots of seed.
