For years I've seen the effects of evangelistic literature. At CCW we have heard of lives being changed all over the world through such means. In our new church in the KC area, we place a heavy emphasis on providing resources for our people. They have become the most evangelistic church I've ever been a part of. Much of their labors have been through strategic use of books, booklets and audio that the church has provided freely for their use. They have appreciated having quality materials that have doctrinal integrity and are attractive, available for their use each Sunday. It has made a big difference for them.

Believers naturally have an interest in getting the gospel into the minds of their relatives and friends. If they feel inadequate explaining it verbally, they at least can provide sound literature to help them. Every true believer can sow some gospel seed this way.

Some months ago I witnessed how a solid church in Trinidad set up a table with a variety of items related to the gospel. I saw firsthand how guests and members made use of it. Each Sunday the pastor would explain to the guests that there are free resources available that will encourage and help them in their spiritual quest. He also reminded members that these materials are for their use with friends and relatives. They were free to take all they would use well. The resource table was extremely popular and effective.

We have provided some helps for you in setting up your own free resource table for evangelism. Though it costs money to keep such a table going, the returns are well worth it. You may name it what you wish, but we have suggested "The Way to God Free Resource Table." This will not make people feel awkward because it speaks to both the unsaved guests and the members. For obvious reasons, we encourage you not to call it "Evangelistic Resource Table."

The expenses of this kind of ministry may be underwritten by a member of your church who wishes to make an eternal contribution. What great rewards come to those who find ways to sow the seed! It may also be done by a Bible Study class or some other group in the church. Or, of course, it could be underwritten by your evangelism budget. We think this is such a solid idea that we are making discounts even deeper for those who wish to use our evangelistic books for this project in their churches. We also have provided literature holders that may be purchased at our cost. We don't want anything to stop you from doing this.

We would love to hear from you if you carry this project out. Let us know what you are learning. Remember, nothing should be on the table except that which explains the gospel. Perhaps a bowl of mints should be the only exception.
